The Read Write Inc. Phonics childrens storybooks provide structured practice for children in decoding words and reading through phonics.
There are seven sets of books and each one is carefully graded so children can read them with confidence as soon as they have learned the sounds linked to the set. Each set comes with 10-13 books. Black and white versions of all the storybooks are available for children, which some parents recommend as they say children are not so distracted by all the colorful pictures.
They are designed to be used once a child has knowledge of the basic phonetic sounds that are introduced in the "speed sounds 1" cards produced by RWI. The books are funny children will really appreciate them and learn at the same time.
This method of teaching reading through phonics have been successfully tried and tested using Ruth Miskin’s method, offering practical and effective advice in guiding children through every story, building confidence with fun and engaging stories for young children.
The structured phonic story rhymes in Book 1e are written for parents to plan one a night achievable reading sessions with their child - great for busy parents!
Reading steps for success: Practise reading the Speed Sounds before each story. Read the Red and Green words before each story, read the story to decode every word and then re-read the story to reinforce.
