The Fibonnaci sequence of numbers are named after the Italian medieval mathematician who first posed a rather artificial problem about rabbits. The answer to this puzzle was a sequence of maths numbers which was soon discovered to be very special and which occurred in many real situations concerning plants and animals. The best known situation is the one concerning the numbers of spirals to be found on flower seed heads and on the cones of pine trees. The poster includes a wide variety of different situations where the Fibonacci sequence occurs and serves as a stimulating introduction to them and their properties.
